You may obtain Prescription Only Medicines Veterinary, (POM Vs) from your veterinary surgeon or ask for a prescription and obtain these medicines from another veterinary surgeon or a pharmacy.  Your veterinary surgeon may prescribe POM Vs only for pets under his or her care.

PATIENT CARE

A prescription may not be appropriate if your pet is an in-patient or immediate treatment is necessary.
You will be informed, on request, of the price of any medicine that may be prescribed for your pet.
The policy of this practice is to reassess a pet requiring repeat prescriptions every three months, but this may vary with individual circumstances. The charge for this reassessment is our follow-up consultation fee which is published on your practice’s webpage via www.goddardvetgroup.co.uk/practice-finder

ROUTINE TREATMENTS

Routine flea and worm treatments may however be dispensed without additional re-examination for up to one year if it has been prescribed by the veterinary surgeon as part of a health plan agreed at the annual health assessment. Any change of prescription will require a further reassessment.
Clients are requested to give 48 hours advance notice for repeat prescriptions.

DISPOSAL OF MEDICATION

Once medicines have left the practice, we are not able to re-use unused or returned medicines. However, we encourage clients to return any unused medications to the practice for safe disposal. Flushing medicines, pouring them down the sink or disposing of them via landfill poses a risk to the environment and we can arrange safe disposal on your behalf.
